STREET ART /GRAFFITI
Young people care about what they put onto canvas!!!
Don't limit your imagination to the art-room – USE IT!!!
If you want to produce a piece of art, you need to think deeply about your subject matter, and as such graffiti is a fantastic spring board for young people to explore what they feel about a whole raft of issues, from sexual health, drugs and alcohol, identity, their local area, aspirations, relationships and current affairs.
This ancient and increasingly popular art form is always well received by young people, who are often amazed by the quality of work that they can produce.
Being proud of their work, the "art creators" will be keen to share their work with a wider audience!
SO... display the work in your building; that way everyone can investigate the subject matter for themselves.
STREET ART GETS US TALKING!!!
As well as developing the ability to think deeply, personally and creatively, graffiti has at it's core a fundamental concept for all of us to embrace: OPINION MATTERS; DEBATE MATTERS; ART COMMUNICATES THOSE MATTERS!!!
